Hi there,
Sorry for the wall of text.
I've started to plan a new MOD for Homeworld2 engine.
This project has the ambition of making things in a fast pace to combat this mod illness of taking years to release material.
Don't ask me how things will work out yet, it's really the planning phase, but I can forward what's coming next:
the project is:
- for fun and hobby, no money involved;
- FOLDER - will be like an open source and it has a SVN folder already: subversion.assembla.com/svn/is…
- IM - all interested should have a MSN/SKYPE account so we can discuss things very often. Add me: solo.hs@gmail.com
- BACK STORY - the race(s) will have a back story similar to the HW1 document Historical and Technical Briefing. Already got a consultant in astronomy to design the race(s) star system. He is an American Sci-fi writer with 2 books published and Astronomer. I'm working on that. A tip, just for fun: they live in the Vaygr reaches, joined their war machine in the invasion of Hiigara and the Vaygr calls them the Gaudr, but back home they are developing things in secret ... ; ]
- DATA FOLDER - the SVN folder is actually HW's DATA folder, with SHIP folder and everything else
- INTERACTION - it will work like a stock exchange. Once a ship gets approved, it's blocked and that process is held and developed by the person that has offered it;
- ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS - the processes MAJORs are CONCEPT, MODEL, TEXTURE, HODDING, ANIMATION, SCRIPT. These processes might change a little, but it will be something similar. Acknowledgements will be made to anyone that is appointed to and responsible for the WHOLE process. So, it's advised that a process is held by at least 2 people, one experienced and another one eager to learn. We should use the project to multiply modders;
- It's not only about ships, but it will start here;
- NOBODY will start anything or any hard work before things get discussed, approved and appointed. We will have "art leaders" (yes, moderators) for fighter class, corvette class and etc.;
- It's being created a space for 3 races and every race will have 3 fleets/faction. These means that if an idea, draw, sketch or texture is not approved for that particular ship there is some room to use it elsewhere inside the project;
- Inside the folder you will find an empty PROBE and SCOUT folder. They will be used to create our forum tools, rules of debating and system of approval. Everything is blank at this point.
- Even if you don't have time or skills, join the SVN folder and keep tracking. Also, add me to Skype, just let me know here first;
- I'll start here in dA, then I'll make a call or forum at RelicNews and by the time we have something in-game to show will be in MODDB. Maybe even a forum in a LUA forum for our SP campaign, let's see;
- I won't be able to please everyone, friendships will be made or lost, I'm just asking you to be a pioneer in how a game can be developed. And lets have a cool new MOD for HOMEWORLD;
- It's getting long, I'll talk more later and need some feedback now. Join the folder and add me to skype.
Greetings

Origin of the Homeworld art style
The unique ship design we see in Homeworld can be traced back to SF artist Chris Foss, who was not directly involved in Homeworld, but its influence was obvious. The reason why dev took on his style was because they want a colorful visual with interesting tats, it must set apart from grey ships from conventional SF setting. Foss also worked on the early concept of Dune, unfortunately it never went into production.

New Homeworld games coming from Gearbox Software and Blackbird Interactive!
It is not a fresh news, but I think it's still necessary to post it here, since this is a Homeworld fans group.

See it's offical site for more information: http://www.homeworldremastered.com/
And the other game is made by Blackbird Interactive, which is the founded by the original creaters of the ver
