The unique ship design we see in Homeworld can be traced back to SF artist Chris Foss, who was not directly involved in Homeworld, but its influence was obvious. The reason why dev took on his style was because they want a colorful visual with interesting tats, it must set apart from grey ships from conventional SF setting. Foss also worked on the early concept of Dune, unfortunately it never went into production.

New Homeworld games coming from Gearbox Software and Blackbird Interactive!

It is not a fresh news, but I think it's still necessary to post it here, since this is a Homeworld fans group.

Both news were released in the last year. After Gearbox aquired the lisence of Homeworld series, they immediately announced a HD remake project of Homeworld and Homeworld2, which known as Homeworld Remastered Edition now. Pre-order is already began for U.S. customers.

See it's offical site for more information: www.homeworldremastered.com/

And the other game is made by Blackbird Interactive, which is the founded by the original creaters of the very first Homeworld game. After Relic Entertainment has been purchased by THQ, they left and founded the Blackbird. After all those years they didn't forget their first creation, and announced Hardware: Shipbreakers as a social-RTS game. If we took a look at it we will know that's a real homeworld game under another name. After Gearbox aquired the homeworld lisence and reived the serie, a cooperation between Gearbox and Blackbird was started. Gearbox gives the permission of creating a homeworld game to Blackbird, and Blackbird became the advisor during Gearbox's homeworld remake project. So we can hope that we could enjoy the remade homeworld series with original essence, and we could have a new homeworld game as well! Hardware: shipbreakers has offically changed to Homeworld: Shipbreakers now(You may notice that both words has a short as "HW"). The game will be a prequel for the first homeworld game, showing the storys before Kushan people left Kharak.

The offical site of Homeworld: Shipbreakers is here: blackbirdinteractive.com/games…

Most of the media were removed after Hardware changed to Homeworld, because those media was made for Hardware and has too many non-homeworld elements, so you may find that the website is pretty empty. You could search for Hardware: Shipbreaks directly at Youtube or something, that will lead you to sereval trailors published in early times.

I am full excited when I heard these news! It is said HW:Remastered will be released at the end of this year. Prepare for it, pals!
Hi guys, I've made new updates to the voting system.
-The Co-Founder (Daniel/Talros) has automatic access and approval
-All artworks being added by Members, Contributors and Co-Affiliates only need 2 VOTES, Everybody can vote, so if you see a feature request then please vote if you want to see it in the gallery.
-All journal submissions are now automatically approved.

Apart from new updates I'm even putting up a new contest, which people will hopefully have time for, if not then I'll make sure there is plenty.
-Produce some cool Homeworld or inspired concepts and artworks, any medium be it traditional, photoshop, 3D you name it (yes, even paper models).
-There is no limit to how many you can submit.
-The cut off date is, oh, 29th of February 2014, a lot of time, especially for the professionals amongst us.
-Voting will begin immediately as all submissions are in, so I hope everybody tosses in their hat for this.
-I know there are quite a few pros on this page, who may or may not have the time to do this, although if they do compete then don't feel intimidated by their quality. In the in end it all comes down to the effort you've put into it ;D. And also, don't be shy to ask for help or advice, especially from other members.
-Another note, please submit your whole thought process, this includes sketches, ideas, thumbnails, dev concepts and WIPS.
-Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd are well... non existent at the moment. But over the next months we can figure that out.

So, I hope everybody enjoys what's coming ;D.
Hi everybody, the title says it all.

I am deleting my account soon, due to the fact that I have to pay out of my nose for a name change ('tekanako-the-first' it just doesn't work for me anymore) And I have been having a number of errors cropping up with the submission phase (could have to with the fact that Australia's internet is WORSE than Albania.)

So, my name will be 'ARGHouse'... actually those are my initials, so it works perfectly. You will be able to find me with this new page, meaning that you can still watch me again, fav my stuff etc. Everything before 2012 is not going on my page (Everything in 2012 will be in a folder for that year), that means all the cool planet stuff yes, but I will find somewhere to put them. my DA page will be for my finished concepts and designs, so any WIP stuff and sketches will be found on my blog page (ARGHouse Sketchbook). An extra note, I will still be the all out Emperor of the Homeworld Fan art group, so Daniel (Talros) if you could send me a request after wards then that would be super.

As to everybody on this group, we've had at least a good time I hope, to some extent there have been a few delays in getting work up and the usual in-activity. To be expected, we all have important things to do, why some of the contributors (I think you already know who they are :) ) are working on some of the coolest projects and commissions I've seen. So just a reminder, don't worry because your artwork will get up at some point... if another person remembers to vote. Why do we vote, because on the other one I created (Concept art.org, I did not set any rules for submission, so everybody poured in their work, some of it good... but unrelated to Homeworld (to this day I still need to go back and recreate it). I have no idea if I gave standard members the vote, so I'll check on that. All it takes is 2 votes and your work is on ;).
My break is coming, so I should be able to post a competition, maybe a few more things (no, haven't been doing anything Homeworld related :P)

This change will most likely be happening tomorrow, so to all of you I hope you've enjoyed to some degree the work on my page ;D.

And no don't worry, I'm not sad, I'm quite optimistic about.
